Madunagala water spring is located between Sooriyawewa and Ridiyagama. It was first recorded by Leonard Woolf, assistant government agent of Hambanthota. The springs stand in the form of a series of wells huddled in a group of six in the center stood the main but smallest, surrounded by a few more large ones resembling the petals of a flower. Heat of the earth’s mantle has given the temperature for the springs. This hot spring is 11582 ft. deep with its water running at speed of about 645ml per second. The highest temperature recorded from the central well is 44C. It is believed that the water of the spring can cure the skin ailments, arthritis, asthma, and number of other chronic issues as a result of rich minerals which spring water contains. As a result of this miraculous healing power of this water spring it has drawn attention of local and international travelers.
