Dutch–Ceylon Conference on Reimagining Sri Lanka Tourism
The Ruhunu Tourism Bureau participated in the Dutch–Ceylon Conference on Reimagining Sri Lanka Tourism held on 5th March 2026 organized by Rajarata University of Sri Lanka in collaboration with Breda University of Applied Sciences, held at the Galle Heritage Foundation, Galle.🌍✨
Chairman P.G.G.S Jayan delivered a guest speech highlighting the tourism potential of the Southern Province, with special emphasis on ongoing strategic initiatives to promote community-based tourism and experience-based tourism, while also introducing several emerging and untapped destinations in the region.
The conference was attended by Managing Director Nishantha Samarathunga and staff members of the Ruhunu Tourism Bureau, Prof.Manoj Samarathunga from Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Chairman Sanjaya Gauthamdasa and several members of the Southern Province Hotels Associations, representatives of the Galle Heritage Foundation, local area tourist guides, and a group of students from Breda University of Applied Sciences accompanied by Professor Dr. Isaac Rami and Lecturer & Researcher Jelena Farkic.
The Ruhunu Tourism Bureau values such academic–industry collaborations, which provide important research insights and strengthen international knowledge exchange for the sustainable development of tourism in Sri Lanka.
