📚 Southern Province Regional Tourist Guide Course 2026 | Inaugural Ceremony 📚
With the aim of elevating the tourism sector of the Southern Province to international standards, the inaugural ceremony of the 2026 Regional Tourist Guide Course conducted by the Ruhunu Tourist Bureau was held yesterday (04). The event was held with great honor under the patronage of the Honourable Governor of the Southern Province, Professor Susiripala Manawadu.
Following a curriculum prepared under the full supervision of the Sri Lanka Institute of Hotel Management, this 21-day course covers a wide range of subjects including cultural heritage, eco-tourism, transport-related knowledge, and foreign communication. Students who successfully complete the course will be awarded the official license and certificate from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Ruhunu Tourist Bureau, Mr. P.G.G.S. Jayan, emphasized that trainees who enter the field with formal and professional education will make an extremely valuable contribution to the reputation of the country and the future growth of the tourism sector. He also revealed that the field experience he gained as a national tour guide lecturer will always serve as a strong foundation.
